Most Excellent Companion Patrick Clay Carr Biography

Born on January 9, 1966, in Richmond, (Henrico County) Virginia, the son of Birdell Isaac and Carol Collins Carr.  He graduated from Meadowbrook High School (Chesterfield County) and attended college at several institutions of higher learning before attending Central Christian College of Kansas where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Leadership.

He married Adriane Hall Carr while residing in Atlanta, Georgia, and they have two daughters, Rebecca Carr and Rachael Edwards, and one son, Matthew Beyers, along with five grandchildren.  His wife and children have all been active in various masonic groups and bodies.

Patrick’s professional career saw him work in several disciplines for various companies. He served in sales for many years before being trained in management. He owned and operated a successful marketing and public relations firm in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where he managed the printing and publications for John Brown University. He left JBU and served in the mission field with his family for a short time, before returning to Siloam Springs and opening and managing several successful restaurants and a silk screen and embroidery concern. Patrick became restless and wanted to again serve the public. He was hired and trained as a Police Officer for the Siloam Springs Police Department before moving to McPherson, Kansas and joining that department. He has served in law enforcement as a patrol officer, detective, hostage/crisis negotiator, honor guard team leader, and as a peer support and critical incident stress manager.

Patrick has long been active in public service, and he served the City of Siloam Springs, Arkansas as a member of the Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission before being elected to the City Board of Directors.  He was appointed as Chairman of the Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee for the State of Arkansas by Governor Mike Huckabee and served several years in that capacity. Patrick was elected and served two terms on the Benton County Quorum Court as a Justice of the Peace and served on the Personnel and Public Safety Committees.

Patrick and his wife, Adriane are members of First Presbyterian Church of McPherson, PCUSA and both are ordained ruling elders.  He served as a Youth Pastor for several Presbyterian Churches in Atlanta before moving to Arkansas.

​

Patrick was cited by the United States House of Representatives and the Governor of Arkansas for his service to the many evacuees in Arkansas during Hurricane Katrina and received the Red Cross’ Hero of a Lifetime award.  He was inducted into the American Police Chief’s Hall of Fame with the honor of Knight Chevalier of the Order of St. Michael the Archangel. He is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Siloam Springs and has served as Chairman of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce’s Dogwood Festival Committee.  In 2002, he was selected to the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s 40 Top Businesspeople under 40 Years of Age.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Centers of McPherson and Harvey Counties, and he has served on several Boards for various community service organizations wherever he has lived.

Patrick has had a storied and interesting masonic experience. He was Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on February 27, 2007, in Key Lodge No. 7 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where he received all three degrees.  Patrick served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 2011 and was elected to the Grand Lodge of Arkansas progressive line, eventually serving as Deputy Grand Master for the 2016 term before leaving the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. Patrick received the Pillar of Solomon award for his service to Arkansas masonry. He became a member of Hancock Lodge No. 311 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 2019 and has served as the Worshipful Master of McPherson Lodge No. 172 and Caledonia Lodge No. 459. Patrick was appointed to serve the Grand Lodge of Kansas as the Grand Pursuivant to Most Worshipful Brother Robert D. McClarty in 2023 and received the Distinguished Service Medal from Most Worshipful Brother Michael D. Johnson in 2023 at the Grand Lodge of Kansas’ Annual Communication. Patrick currently serves the Grand Lodge of Kansas as the chairman of the Masonic Education Committee and as Area Deputy Grand Master for Area 3. Patrick is a Trustee for the Kansas Masonic Foundation.

Patrick joined the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Fayetteville, Arkansas on April 14, 2007, received the Honor and Distinction of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 2011, and was coroneted as a 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary on August 5, 2015. He served the Valley as Venerable Master and as Treasurer. Patrick was fortunate to be asked to serve on a committee to develop what later became the Scottish Rite VMAP. He is a graduate and Adept of the College of the Consistory in Guthrie, Oklahoma which is dedicated to masonic education and research in the Scottish Rite, and is currently a member of the Wichita Valley in the Orient of Kansas where he serves as education officer.

Patrick completed the York Rite Degrees and Orders on July 14, 2007, and has served as High Priest, Illustrious Master, and Commander.  Patrick received the Knight York Cross of Honor on May 4, 2013. He served the Grand York Rite of Arkansas in the Grand Chapter as Grand Captain of the Host and the Grand Commandery as Grand Senior Warden. He is a member of the Order of the High Priesthood, Order of the Silver Trowel, and the Kansas Association of Past Commanders.

Patrick is currently serving the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Kansas as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest after he was appointed to the progressive line by Most Excellent Companion Wayne Rollf in 2022. He serves the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Kansas as Grand Captain of the Guard, and the Grand Commandery of Kansas as Deputy Grand Commander. Patrick is currently the recorder for the McPherson York Rite Bodies.

Patrick has been an active participant in many masonic bodies throughout his life. He is a member of the Allied Masonic Degrees (Past Sovereign Master), Knight Masons (Past Chief), Red Cross of Constantine, York Rite College, Royal Order of Scotland, Grotto (Past Monarch), Shrine, Masonic Order of Athelstan (Past Master), Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, Grand College of Rites, S.R.C.I.F. (7th Grade), International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (Past State Rainbow Dad), Order of DeMolay, Order of the Eastern Star (Past Patron), Masonic Order of the Bath, Ye Ancient Order of Noble Corks, Sovereign Order of Knights Preceptor, Order of Pilgrim Preceptors, Yeoman of York, and St. Thomas of Acon.

Patrick has been awarded the Rainbow Grand Cross of Color, the Honorary Legion of Honor from DeMolay International, the Order of the Secret Vault from the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International, the Order of Holy Wisdom from the Grand College of Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, the Knight Commander of Zerubbabel by the Grand Council of Knight Masons of the USA and has been elected to receive the Order of the Purple Cross in 2024 from the York Rite Sovereign College of North America. He holds a Grand Encampment membership jewel with three clusters and is a Commissioned Knight Templar Chaplain. He was awarded Grand Rank of Past Grand Banner Bearer by the Masonic Order of Athelstan in England and its Provinces Overseas in 2024.

Patrick is serving the Grand Court of the Masonic Order of Athelstan in the United States of America as the Grand Marshall and sits on the High Council of the Masonic Order of the Bath as the Keeper of the Bathmat.

​

Patrick enjoys masonic research and education and has been published in the Journal of the Masonic Society, Living Stones Magazine, the Kansas Mason and several others. His first book, Working Tools, has been published and is available on Amazon for purchase. He travels extensively to various masonic bodies where he offers masonic light and education when requested.

 

When he is not working in the quarries for the craft, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and visiting Walt Disney World to vacation, relax, and unwind.
